Standard Chimney Sweep / Yearly Maintenance Sweep
We begin with a visual check of your chimney. This tells us if there are any issues visible, like loose bricks, unsafe cowls, or damaged chimney pots.
Inside we begin by covering the immediate area with sheets. We visually check of the flue to be swept to assess the bends and size. Then the correct equipment is used the sweep the flue from bottom to top. This is usually done twice to ensure any loosened materials are dislodged from the flue on the second pass of the brushes.
Once the chimney is clear of loose soot we then test the chimney for DRAW by using smoke bombs or matches. This will ensure the flue draft is good enough to clear the roof space.
Your chimney will now be given a certificate that will ensure its safety for the next 12 months.
Please note a smoke draw test does not mean that the chimney is sound and without leaks. It means that the smoke clears the chimney at/on the day it is tested only. To establish if the chimney is totally leak free, a smoke SOUND test will be required. This is an in-dept survey that will require a full camera inspection and/or the chimney to be blocked at the top whilst undergoing a smoke test. This will also require access to the full length of the chimney including loft space.
